YOU HAVE THE STRENGTH TO SEEK THE HELP YOU MAY NEED!

It takes strength to say “I need help,” but you should consider it as a sign of devotion to your family and yourself. Too many fear the stigma of seeking mental health care. Concerns vary from appearing weak, to fearing adverse impact on one's career, losing self-respect and believing that “invisible wounds” don’t count. It is disheartening to hear anyone disclose fear of being harassed, discriminated against or accused of malingering. Unfortunately, delaying care only makes the condition worse and recovery more difficult. The paradigm shift needs to be that seeking help early and confidently is a sign of power, strength, integrity and a demonstration of care and concern for self and those you love. If you need help, please seek it and know that you are STRONG!!

SEEKING HELP MEANS YOU'RE STRONG

S - SAY it to yourself (admitting it to yourself is the first step)

T - TALK to someone (share your concern with someone you trust)

R - RECOGNIZE that help is available (there are resources and treatment)

O - OUTREACH (make the initial contact)

N - NETWORK with others who have experienced challenges (know that you are not alone)

G - GROW from the experience (your recovery and resiliency is empowering)
